Oklahoma City Gets New Archbishop

The Archdiocese of Oklahoma City installed its fourth Archbishop in a ceremony Friday at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Archdiocese of Oklahoma City installed its fourth Archbishop in a ceremony Friday at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond.

The Most Reverend Paul S. Coakley, formerly the Bishop of Salina, Kansas, succeeded Eusebius J. Beltran to head the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City.

Coakley was ordained in Salina in December of 2004 and has spent most of his life in Kansas.

Coakley becomes only the fourth Archbishop in Oklahoma City's history. The first three bishops were John R. Quinn, Charles A Salatka, and Beltran. The Archdiocese of Oklahoma City covers approximately the western two-thirds of Oklahoma.
