OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City firefighters had to fight extreme cold while battling two house fires in Oklahoma City Friday.

Firefighters responded to a house fire in the 3000 block of N.W. 15th Street, and said the home is a total loss.

Luckily the family of six was not home when the fire started shortly before noon Friday.

Oklahoma City's cold weather caused problems for the fire department, causing water to freeze between the fire hydrants and the end of the fire hoses. The resulting low water pressure took minutes away from the fire attack.

And a long ice covered driveway made it tough for firefighters to reach a house fire near S.W. 104th Street and Council Road.

They also had to bring in tanker trunks since no hydrants were nearby.

The homeowners told firefighters they were in the process of remodeling and weren't home, so no one was hurt.

The cause of both fires is under investigation.
