OKLAHOMA CITY – Aging agencies in both Oklahoma and Cleveland Counties are making sure homebound seniors are prepared for Tuesday's winter weather.

Many received special shelf stable meals early in the fall in preparation for bad weather.

"We just want to take care of our seniors," George Henschel, Social Services Supervisor for Aging Services Inc. in Cleveland County, said.

Many Meals on Wheels programs across the metro delivered food Monday, but will likely not be able to deliver Tuesday or Wednesday if weather predictions of massive snow and blizzard-like conditions hold true.

Many seniors at the Brand Senior Center in Moore are used to coming in to get a hot meal, but may not be able to do that Tuesday, either. If the schools in Moore are closed, the center will be, too. But seniors told News 9 they are prepared to hunker down and stay home.

"We're ready," said Tommy and Marilyn Throckmorton. "We've got plenty of food and plan to stay inside."

Seniors who do need assistance are encouraged to call the Aging Services Inc. in Cleveland County at (405) 321-3200 or Areawide Aging Agency in Oklahoma County (405)942-8500.

Seniors can also call 211.
