Ingredients:

3 cups all purpose flour

4 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

1 Tablespoon sugar

8 oz butter, cut into small pieces

1 cup milk

heavy cream or melted butter

Cooking Instructions:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees 

Combine dry ingredients in bowl of stand mixer and mix thoroughly. Cut in butter a little at a time until evenly combined. Slowly pour in milk and mix until dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead lightly to form a ball. Roll out to about a half inch in thickness then fold several times to create layers. Roll out again to about a half an inch and cut to desired size. Place biscuits on cookie sheet and brush the tops with heavy cream or melted butter and bake in preheated oven for 13 minutes.
