TULSA COUNTY, Oklahoma -- A 15-year-old Tulsa girl was killed in a high speed, single car wreck Saturday night after she was thrown from a car driven by a 16-year-old.

The accident took place just after 10 p.m. at 6544 North Lansing in Tulsa County.

Quanaysha Owens was riding in a car driven by 16-year-old Bro'sheonia Dea'kole Reid of Tulsa. Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say Reid was driving at a high rate of speed eastbound on 66th Street North when the Chevy Cavalier left the roadway to the right, striking a telephone pole.

The car rolled once, hit a tree and rolled again, coming to rest in a ditch. Owens, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car and pronounced dead at the scene from trunk injuries, according to a report by Trooper Matt Mize.

Bystander Homer Beeler, who has lived in the area for 32 years, said firefighters asked him if he had seen a 22-year-old man who may have "jumped out of the car and took off running."

He had not seen anyone leave the area, he said. But it is not the first wreck, or even fatality wreck he has seen in the rural area.

"Seen wrecks up and down this road all my life," he said.

Reid, who also was not wearing a seat belt, was admitted to a Tulsa hospital in stable condition with numerous injuries, including head, neck, and trunk injuries.

The cause of the collision is listed as exceeding the speed limit. Driver's condition at the time of the accident is listed as unknown.
