SEMINOLE, Oklahoma -- Police said two men captured a murder suspect and jail escapee in Seminole, and held him until officers arrived.

OSBI spokesperson Jessica Brown said the suspect, 18-year-old Christian James Farris, was arrested early Wednesday morning in connection with the murder of 50-year-old Alvin Walker. About two hours after he was booked, Farris escaped from the Seminole city jail, sparking a manhunt.

Thomas Frumson drove through a law enforcement checkpoint Wednesday and was shown a picture of Farris.  Around 12:30 p.m., he spotted Farris in downtown Seminole.  Farris was not wearing a shirt and still had on the distinctive orange pants from the jail.

Police said Frumson and another man shouted at Farris, then started chasing him.  Randy McCarter and his son were doing some painting work nearby and saw the men capture the escapee.

"The guy tripped over that curve,"said McCarter. "The other two guys that were chasing him pounced on him."

"He was just scared," said Zachary McCarter. "You could see the fear in his eyes."

The men called police and held Farris until officers arrived.

Police believed Farris shot Alvin Walker of McLoud in the back at about 10 p.m. near Jefferson and College streets, which is down the road from Seminole High School.  His body was found in in the middle of the street by someone driving by.

Walker has two sons and six grandchildren.
