Single Mother Of 5 No Longer Using Space Heaters To Heat Home
Maria Martinez is a single mother of five young boys and up until recently she had to heat her home using only two small space heaters.
Thanks to a nomination by her sister for Heating Hearts, Martinez was given a new furnace to replace her 30-year-old broken one.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A single mom struggling to pay the bills received quite a Christmas surprise.
News 9 and One Hour Air Conditioning and Heating teamed up for Heating Hearts to put a new heater in Maria Martinez's house.
Martinez's sisters nominated her for a new heater because of her 30-year-old broken furnace. Martinez had been heating her home using two small space heaters.
Martinez and her five young boys huddled in the bedrooms and sometimes the kitchen.
"I would just open the oven door and that's how I would heat the house," Martinez said.
Unable to afford a new furnace, Martinez and her boys have had to make do with what they have.
"I think we just got used to it being a little chilly," Martinez said.
But not anymore, One Hour Air Conditioning and Heating installed a new furnace. So it's no more space heaters, but a toasty home for the holidays -- something Martinez and her family said they can definitely get used to.
"I don't know what to say but thanks," Martinez said. "They are going to be happy that they don't have to stay in one area of the house."
Maria said she's never won anything and is still in shock over winning a new furnace.
