OKLAHOMA CITY – A man was hospitalized after he was hit by a train at N.W. 89th Street and Western Avenue.

Police said the driver was trying to cross the tracks at Western Avenue when the train slammed into the car. The force of the impact threw the man from his car.

"You're talking about something that probably weighs 100 tons moving compared to something that weighs maybe one ton and the one ton car lost," said Oklahoma City Police Lt. Aven Bull.

Police said there are no crossing arms at this intersection, but the signal lights were working.

The victim is described as a Hispanic male in his 40's. He is listed in critical condition at an area hospital. His name has not been released.
