NORMAN, Oklahoma --Norman police said they have identified a person who reported a possible threat against a Norman high school to the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office Wednesday night and determined no threat ever existed.

Investigators said a male Norman North student called the sheriff's office Wednesday evening, claiming to have overheard a threat directed toward the school.

The student later took back the claims he made to authorities.

No arrests have been made, but police said they are continuing to investigate the incident.

A Norman Police Department spokesperson said additional officers were placed at the school as a precaution Thursday.

"You're mandated, I believe, compelled to take every possible precaution that you can in circumstances such as this," said Norman Police Capt. Tom Easley.
