JENKS, Oklahoma -- The 6A state championship game is this Friday night, December 3, 2010, in Stillwater. Jenks and Union square off for the coveted gold ball, the championship trophy.

As Rick Wells found out, these schools have been in this game so often it's understandable that traditions would develop around it. Traditions like the Jenks Gold Ball Dancers.

The group is a big highlight at the Jenks pre-game pep rally.  It's teachers, doing a choreographed dance number.

A few of the dancers got together for an impromptu rehearsal at the high school to give the News On 6 a preview of their performance.

"What's here is a small group, there's about 15 or 20 teachers that work to put together a choreographed dance," said Tara Smith.

The choreographers are members of the pom squad.

Rick Wells, News On 6: "You mix the music, you choreograph this. How long's the number?"

Members of the Pom Squad: "About a minute forty seconds, yeah almost two minutes."

Rick Wells, News On 6: "Long enough to…"

Members Of the Pom Squad: "Long enough to thoroughly embarrass them."

The teachers are willingly embarrassed in the name of school spirit. The dance is different every year.

Jenks' pep assembly is Friday at noon. Union's is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday.

They're asking all the Union fans who are going to the game to wear Santa hats and write the word "believe" on the white band.

The game is Friday night at 7:30 at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater.
