Court Documents Show Toddler Experienced Traumatic Death

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Court documents revealed an Oklahoma City toddler died a violent death.

The toddler's mother Cierra Ransom, 24, and her boyfriend, Omar Hill, 30, made their first court appearance Wednesday in a video arraignment from jail.

Ransom and Hill were arrested Monday in the death of 1-year-old Malia Ransom.

The couple took Malia to Baptist Medical Center on Sunday. Police were called after doctors didn't expect Malia to survive.

According to court documents, Hill told police he found Malia on the floor face down and moaning on Sunday, and when he went to check on her she was "limp."

Malia later died Sunday at the hospital.

According to court records filed Wednesday, Malia had extensive internal injuries, including a lacerated liver, torn pancreas, a large vein leading to her heart had been torn, her right lung was lacerated, both lungs had bruises, she had bleeding on the brain and a cracked skull.

The medical examiner said Malia died from internal bleeding within ten minutes of the injury and has ruled her death as a homicide.

Bother Ransom and Hill face charges of first-degree murder and permitting child abuse.
