OKLAHOMA CITY -- Gov.-elect Mary Fallin says she'll look to reduce administrative costs at the state's public schools -- but said she opposes forced consolidation.

Fallin made the comment Tuesday as she introduced Phyllis Hudecki as her secretary of education.

The governor-elect said her transition team will be looking for ways to make public schools more efficient. She said she believes voters showed they want changes in public education in the Nov. 2 election -- but declined to discuss specific ideas that she may present.

Fallin defeated Lt. Gov. Jari Askins in the election and will take office in January.

Fallin said while she opposes forcing schools to consolidate -- she will look for ways to encourage those schools that voluntarily merge in an effort to streamline spending.
