OKLAHOMA CITY -- People eager to party in downtown Oklahoma City on New Year's Eve can now buy wristbands for the annual Opening Night celebration. The event started in 1987 and draws thousands of people every year.

The wristband gives partygoers access to 40 performances across 10 venues in downtown Oklahoma City. There will also be a children's area that includes an instrument petting zoo, sing-alongs, clowns and face painters. The countdown to midnight in Kerr Park will include the traditional Opening Night ball, followed by a large fireworks show.

Opening Night begins at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31 and ends when the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Day. Purchasing wristbands in advance costs $8. They will cost $10 at the event. Children under the age of five are admitted for free.

People can purchase wristbands at 7-Eleven Stores, metro Homeland stores, MidFirst Bank locations, Science Museum Oklahoma or at the event.
