OKLAHOMA CITY -- The product Brazilian Blowout is used by stylists and hair gurus everywhere. But is taming frizzy hair worth a health risk?
The product is used to straighten frizzy or curly hair using a seven-step process that takes about 90 minutes.
Brazilian Blowout is claimed to be free of the chemical known to have caused cancer, formaldehyde. But, a recent test done on the product by Oregon's Occupational Safety & Health Administration proved that the chemical makeup of Brazilian Blowout included 9 percent formaldehyde.
While a lawsuit is pending between Brazilian Blowout and Oregon's Occupational Safety & Health Administration where Brazilian Blowout claims the test findings are flawed, some metro salons still offer the product.
