OKLAHOMA CITY – The manufacturer of a controversial caffeinated alcoholic beverage is reformulating the drink to remove stimulants that are keeping it from being sold in Oklahoma.

According to the Oklahoma Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement (ABLE) Commission, Four Loko's manufacturer, Phusion Projects, plans to remove the caffeine, guarana and taurine from the drink.

The ABLE Commission stated that while they are also encouraging Phusion Projects to decrease the drink's alcohol content by half and to consider reintroducing the drink at a higher price point, they cannot force Phusion Projects to do so.

According to the ABLE Commission, Four Loko is the only pre-mixed, alcohol energy drink currently on the market that contains the combination of ingredients that include caffine, guarana and taurine.
