ENID, Oklahoma -- Enid police are continuing their investigation into an attempted kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl while she was on her way to school.

"I haven't been sleeping the past two days, and I don't want this to happen to anyone else," said Jessica, who did not want to disclose her last name.

Jessica, an Enid High School student, told police was walking in the 600 block of E. Broadway Monday morning at about 8 a.m. when a Hispanic man approached her and tried to lure her into his car.

"Whenever he parked, he got out of his car and then approached me. He's like, 'I was talking to you,' and I was walking really fast trying to get away," said Jessica. "He grabbed my right arm and I am right handed so with my left arm I was kind of punching him trying to get him off but it was very weak."

Jessica was able to get away and ran into a local store where she called a relative who took her to the police.

"We take these cases very seriously and we are getting a few Crime Stopper tips," said Lt. Eric Holtzclaw, Enid Police spokesperson.

Jessica said she is trying to put the past behind her and hopes the man responsible will be caught before he makes another attempt.

"What if I didn't get away? What if I didn't get to the point where I started kicking him and stuff because I wouldn't be able to see my mom anymore. I wouldn't be able to see the family anymore," Jessica said.

Enid police said there were no witnesses to the incident and are asking for the public's help in the case.

The car was described only as a black older model two-door vehicle. The tag number is unknown.

The suspect was described as a male in his mid 20s with a medium build, unshaven, scruffy facial hair, and spiked, short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a black short sleeve T-shirt and baggy blue jeans.

Anyone with information is urged to call Enid Police at 580-242-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 580-233-6233.
