My 2 Cents: In Your Facebook

It's estimated that 144 million Americans are on Facebook. People love it, I'm not into it much anymore. It's too convenient a vehicle for rash, stupid comments, and now they're acceptable, even protected.

It's estimated that 144 million Americans are on Facebook. People love it, I'm not into it much anymore, and here's a reason why.

It's too convenient a vehicle for rash, stupid comments, and now they're acceptable, even protected.

The latest example involves a paramedic in Connecticut angry who was that she was being reprimanded, logged on to Facebook and wrote: "Looks like I'm getting some time off. Love how the company allows a 17 to be supervisor."

17 is code for psychiatric patient. The paramedic also referred to her supervisor with two expletives which prompted further remarks from her co-workers on Facebook.

The company fired her. I would have too.

The National Labor Relations Board said you can't do that. Her comments on Facebook are protected speech.

I would have said, you're right, I'm firing her for stupidity instead. Nobody could question that.

But she has her job back.

I'm sure they'll find another reason to fire her.

Let that be another lesson, you offend someone, like your boss, on Facebook and they'll get wind of it, I can almost guarantee it. A lot of people apparently don't get that and act as if it should be called "In Your Facebook" instead.

Leave Kelly Your 2 Cents, tell us where you're from, and he could read your comments on air.
