DELAWARE COUNTY, Oklahoma -- An 18-year-old Eucha girl was ejected from the car she was riding in after troopers say she got into an argument with the driver. Passenger Jessica Sammarco is in critical condition after a one-car accident near Grove.

The accident happened at about 3:47 a.m. on County Road 630 and County Road 280 about three miles northeast of Grove in Delaware County.

"Driver and passenger were in an argument, and the passenger reached over and depressed the accelerator," said Trooper Jeremy Franz of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. "Driver then lost control of the vehicle."

The 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by 17-year-old Ashley Greer of Grove, ran off the right side of the gravel road, struck a ditched and rolled two times coming to rest on its wheels.

Sammarco, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown 30 feet from the vehicle. She was taken by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital where she was admitted in critical condition with head, leg and internal injuries.

Greer, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.

Franz said there was an odor of alcoholic beverages at the accident scene. The cause of the collision was listed as unsafe speed and an inexperienced driver.
