OKLAHOMA CTIY -- Republican John Doak, 47, a former insurance agent and executive from Tulsa, defeated Democratic incumbent Kim Holland to be Oklahoma's next insurance commissioner.

Doak opposed the new federal health care law and emphasized his 20 years in the insurance industry, first as an agent and later as an industry executive.

"I am fiscally conservative, pro-business and passionately pro-life. Not only am I strongly qualified for this office, but I am also the candidate who best represents Oklahoma values," Doak said. "In addition, I will work to reduce the impediments to doing business in our state in order to create jobs, increase revenue and improve our economy."
