OKLAHOMA CITY -- Democratic incumbent Dan Boren has been reelected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

The only Democrat in the state's congressional delegation, the 37-year-old Boren defeated Republican Charles Thompson, a veterinarian, in Tuesday's general election.

Boren will serve his fourth term in representing District 2, which stretches from far northeast Oklahoma to the Red River border with Texas.

Voters in the eastern Oklahoma district have consistently supported Boren, a conservative Democrat.

A former state representative, Boren's father, University of Oklahoma President David Boren, was elected governor in 1975 and U.S. senator in 1978.
