OKLAHOMA CITY -- A Oklahoma organization stepped in to help feed some Oklahoma inmates after the Oklahoma County Jail's kitchen was forced to close.

Jail officials said a collapsed water drain forced the jail's kitchen to close, but on Monday Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers served 2,200 hot meals to inmates and vowed to help out until the kitchen could be reopened.

"We will do this until it's done, until we're not needed anymore. That's just what we do. We're supported by all the Baptist churches across Oklahoma, and we see this as a major ministry to be in the hands of Jesus Christ in a time of need, and Oklahoma County has a major need right now," said an Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief volunteer.

Jail officials said it could be another ten days before the line is fixed.

Sheriff John Whetsel said his workers are doing all the repairs, saving taxpayers nearly $50,000
