TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa Police have arrested a 21-year old man they say shot both his parents late Thursday night at their north Tulsa home.

Police say the father, identified as Richard Thomas, died and the mother, identified as Charlotte Thomas, was taken to a Tulsa hospital.  Police say they believe she will survive.

Officers arrested Rico Thomas about 4 and a half hours later at a residence in the 7800 block of East Marshal Place.

Tulsa Police say the incident in the 1500 block of East 56th Street North began with an argument on Thursday and then around 10 p.m. Rico Thomas shot his father and mother inside the family home.

"She told us that her son had been in a altercation with their son earlier in the day, her and her husband had been and it had resulted in her getting shot by her son and her husband being shot a couple of times in the upper torso," said Tulsa Police Sergeant Brian Hill.

Tulsa Police say Charlotte was shot in the chest and arm and remains in critical condition.

Richard Thomas was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rico Thomas was booked into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of first degree murder and shooting with intent to kill.
