OKLAHOMA CITY -- Police said a convicted killer is on the run and on a multi-state crime spree that began in Oklahoma City. Now one of his victims is speaking out in hopes of catching him and saving others from harm.

The crime spree started with Patricia Griffith who said she was working at her company, The Oklahoma Contractor Trading Post, on October 21, 2010, when a man came in to rob her.

"He asked if there were any applications for work, and then he pulled out a gun and pointed at me," Griffith said.

Police said the man responsible was Carey Lonnell Breshers, Jr. Griffith said Breshers then forced her to withdraw money at a bank, go on shopping sprees with him and help him rob others. She said he threatened to kill her if she didn't participate. Griffith said Breshers also raped her multiple times.

"I cannot change what happened to me, but it doesn't need to happen to anyone else. I didn't deserve it. Nobody does," Griffith said.

She said that's the reason she has not hesitated to go public with her story. Griffith said she is confident Breshers will harm others if he is not caught.

"Look at this man. Look at him twice before he kills again and he will," she added.

While captive, Griffith attempted to get help by sneaking text messages to her son. Her son called police after receiving messages that his mom had been kidnapped and was asking for help. Griffith and her son said they don't feel like the call for help was taken seriously.

"The police weren't looking for me. Nobody was looking for me. They were holding the gun. Oklahoma was holding the gun," Griffith said.

Griffith urged anyone who sees a female who looks out of place or nervous in a situation to call police. Breshers took Griffith across state lines and released her near St. Louis, Missouri on Sunday. Griffith said she credits her survival instinct.

"I tried to get him to see me as a person. I think that's what worked. What I've done. How hard I've worked to get where I'm at. How my children need me. How much I love my life. That I had something to live for," Griffith said.

Griffith said she knew she had to stay smart and made sure to memorize all the information Breshers said about himself. It is how she helped police identify Carey Breshers as her attacker.

Police believe Breshers was driving a 2002 silver Pontiac Grand Prix with Missouri tags.

He's also wanted in connection with other crimes in the metro area, including a business robbery, a home invasion and a domestic assault unrelated to the kidnapping.
