OKLAHOMA CITY -- Will Rogers Airport is trying to make sure passengers catch their flights, not the flu.

The airport announced Monday it would start the "Flu Shots on the Fly" campaign to help prevent the spread of the flu virus during the busy holiday travel season. Passengers can get the vaccine before they board their flights.

"Approximately 10,000 people pass through the terminal every day providing the opportunity to spread the flu virus," said Karen Carney, Public Information and Marketing Manager. "Flu vaccinations are the best prevention for the seasonal flu and it takes less than five minutes."

The shots will be offered Wednesday, October 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and again on Tuesday, November 9, from 8 a.m. to noon. They will be administered by the Visiting Nursing Association.

The shot costs $25.

The airport has other steps to prevent the spread of the flu and other viruses. Decals have been placed in every bathroom reminding people to wash their hands. Hand sanitizer stations are located at the checkpoint entrances and exits, and in the baggage claim area. The airport also said its automatic toilet seat covers and "touchless" bathroom fixtures help prevent the spread of the virus.
