OKLAHOMA CITY -- Governor Brad Henry ordered all flags on state property be flown at half-staff next week in honor of Oklahoma Supreme Court Justice Marian Opala.

Justice Opala died October 11 at age 89. He was appointed to the state Supreme Court in November 1978 by then-Governor David Boren.

In accordance with state law, the flags will fly at half staff on Monday, October 18, the day of Justice Opala's funeral.

"Justice Opala possessed a passion for the law and a commitment to public service," Gov. Henry said. "He dedicated his career, his keen legal mind and his immense talents to the people of Oklahoma, and there is no doubt that Oklahoma is better because of his service."
