Pedestrian Dies Days After Being Hit at OKC Intersection, Driver Arrested

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A woman has died after being hit by a car at the same Oklahoma City intersection where a woman in a wheelchair was killed.

Oklahoma City Police confirmed 61-year-old Cheryl Bingham died Tuesday morning from her injuries. A car hit Bingham Friday, October 8, when she tried to cross N.E. 23rd Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

The driver left the scene of the accident. Police later tracked down 39-year-old Tony Hankins and arrested him. He faced charges of leaving the scene of an injury accident.

Police have not said if the charges against him will be upgraded now that Bingham has died.

Bingham was hit just a few hours after a driver struck and killed a woman in a wheelchair. The driver in that accident will not face any charges.
