VALLEY BROOK, Oklahoma – The family of a missing Valley Brook woman is reacting to the recent discovery of a body found in the area where the woman may have gone missing.

Authorities found a female's body in Valley Brook Sunday morning just blocks from where Nica Perosi lived. They said it could be the body of the 26-year-old who went missing in September.

Natalie Johnson, Nica Perosi's mother, said she was notified a body was found under a tree near railroad tracks in Valley Brook. Johnson said she was told the body had on the same clothes that her daughter was last seen wearing. Johnson wanted to see if it was her daughter, but was restrained by officers from going to the scene where the body was found.

"We got in our cars and went over there and they wouldn't let me get close enough to see if it was my baby," Johnson said.

Investigators will likely rule out foul play. The way the body was found and a missing person's report, point to possible suicide.

In the report, Nica Perosi's mother told police her daughter was mentally challenged, hearing impaired and that she has just gotten out of a suicide crisis center. Even though, Johnson reported her daughter was suicidal, she has a hard time believing her daughter could have taken her life.

"She seemed fine that night. She was joking and laughing, watching wrestling. She had taken numerous walks. She didn't leave a note or anything," Nica's mother said.

The 26-year-old left home September 14 without her purse, phone and ID, which her father said was strange.

"She left without her usual gear she carried on her, her cell phone, her I.D.," said Anthony Perosi. "It's totally out of character for her."

That's why he believes foul play is involved. Authorities say the death is still under investigation. The Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's office is undergoing an autopsy to identify the remains.

"It doesn't make any sense. If she had killed herself why didn't they find her earlier?" Johnson said.

Nica's family said the area where the body was found is an area where Nica would frequently walk to with her boyfriend.

The day Nica was reported missing, two Valley Brook police officers searched a creek and wooded area near Nica's home, but found nothing.
