ROGERS COUNTY, Oklahoma – A Claremore man and his alleged accomplice are behind bars in connection with vandalism at a Rogers County cemetery, the Rogers County Sheriff's Office said Friday.

Twenty-two-year-old Alexander Ball and a 17-year-old juvenile are accused of damaging over 50 headstones at the Winganon-Ketcher Cemetery last weekend.

Sheriff's investigators said Ball's phone bill was found at the cemetery. He was jailed Thursday on an arrest warrant issued earlier this year for failure to pay a court fine. Investigators said he admitted to the vandalism Friday and claimed he was intoxicated when it happened.

"He couldn't explain why his phone bill had been found in the cemetery," said Investigator Joe Garber.

Ball also gave investigators the name of his accomplice, according to the Sheriff's Office. The juvenile has reportedly admitted his involvement in the vandalism.

"This was just sad and senseless," said Garber.
