OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma City firefighter's miraculous recovery comes full circle as he returned to work for the first time since an accident left him fighting for his life.
Kent Collins was stringing Christmas lights at a local church last year when the roof caved in. Doctors said it would take two years to get his mobility back, but after three surgeries and only 10 months of recovery, he was back on the job Thursday.
"I'm looking forward to making my first ride. Just the feeling of being back on the rig and helping somebody, and you know, I just wanna do that again," Collins said.
Collins said the support he received from his "second family" -- his fellow firefighters -- made all the difference in his recovery.
Collin has been a firefighter for 17 years.
