OKLAHOMA CITY -- A new church was dedicated this weekend in northwest Oklahoma City where the only language spoken during the service was Latin.
Father Justin Nolan of St. Damien Catholic Church said the practice dates back to the third century.
"At first it may seem a little bit off putting to people saying why is the priest speaking in a language that nobody understands but then if you actually look at the prayers of the Mass, you realize the vast majority of them, if not all of them are actually directed to almighty God," said Father Nolan.
Many of the church's parishioners say the service is more intimate in the ancient language.
