EDMOND, Oklahoma -- A judge announced a suspect accused in the murder of a man known as "Bicycle Bob" will go to trial for murder.

Dwite Morgan was well known in the Edmond community as Bicycle Bob. The 54-year-old homeless man was found dead last October. He had been stabbed and beaten to death.

Wednesday in court 20-year-old Connor Mason watched as his girlfriend Heather Holden testified that Mason admitted to her that he was the killer after handing her Bicycle Bob's finger.

Holden, who was also charged in murder, plead guilty and received a deferred sentence for her testimony.

The judge rejected a defense argument that there wasn't enough evidence against Mason because another homeless man, Travis Jim, had confessed to the crime.

Jim, who was also a homeless man, originally confessed to killing Morgan, but those charges were dropped when authorities decided Jim made up the claim.

The judge also denied bond for Mason. His next court date is set for October 13.

Charges against another suspect Nikolas Kerr have been reduced to accessory to murder. He is expected to be sentenced also on October 13.

Mason's trial is expected to begin early next year.
