LAWTON, Oklahoma -- A 3-year-old was killed and the child's grandmother was in critical condition after fire engulfed a family's Lawton home early Wednesday morning.

About 2 a.m., neighbors said they saw flames coming from the home and heard a loud explosion.

"You saw the flames going out of the roof. I know there was a family there. Don't really know the status of the family. We just saw the flames shooting out, and there was a lot of smoke," Lino Roldan told Lawton station KSWO.

Roldan, who lives across the street from the home, recalled also seeing one family member who did make it out alive.

"We saw the young guy running down the street, saying, 'My family was in there,' but we can't tell who in the family was in there. I know there was an old lady and a couple of kids, but I don't know who was in there," Roldan said.

The survivor was taken to a hospital to be treated for burn injuries. His condition is not known.

Fire officials are still trying to determine the exact cause of the fire.

The identities of all parties have not been released.
