A former Oklahoma state senator is making his Hollywood debut with a movie based on his real life personal tragedy. The movie is now playing in the metro.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A former Oklahoma state senator is making his Hollywood debut with a movie based on his real life personal tragedy. The movie is now playing in the metro.

"Heaven's Rain" is produced and co-written by former Oklahoma Senator Brooks Douglass.

In 1979, Douglass and the rest of his family were shot by two men who invaded their Okarche home. Douglass and his sister, Leslie, survived the attack. Their parents, Dr. Richard and Marilyn Sue Douglass, died shortly after being shot.

Douglass moved to Los Angeles where he has spent the last three years working on a movie based on his life and the trying times his family through which his family has struggled.

The movie is now playing at Penn Square Mall's move theatre, Dickinson Theater, and at Harkins Theatre, Bricktown 16.

Harkins Bricktown Cinemas 16 is located at 150 East Reno Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK and will be showing at 12:00, 2:30, 5:00, 7:40 and 10:20 p.m.

Dickinson Penn Square 10 is located at 1901 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK and will be showing the movie at 1:25, 4:00, 7:00 and 9:25 p.m.

The movie's running time is 106 minutes and it is rated "R."
