Five People Flown To Hospitals After Kay County Collision

Five people were flown to area hospitals after a two car accident just north of Ponca City Friday afternoon.

KAY COUNTY – Five people were flown to area hospitals after a two car accident just north of Ponca City Friday afternoon.

The crash happened on State Highway 11 in Kay County about 4: 15 p.m. Friday.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the driver of Dodge pickup, identified as Beverly Collyar, 83, was headed eastbound on Highway 11 when she failed to yield at a stop sign. Collyar's truck collided with a Dodge Caravan driven by Verna Stackhouse, 56, according to OHP.

Troopers said Collyar and her passenger, 81-year-old Melvin Collyar, were flown by Eaglemed to a Wichita, Kansas, hospital. Both were listed in critical condition.

OHP said Stackhouse was flown by Eaglemed to a Tulsa hospital in critical condition. Two children in the van, 4-year-old Kyann Cato and 2-year-old Kylie Cato, were taken to a Ponca City hospital, but later released.

Another passenger in the van, 30-year-old Sam Stackhouse, was flown by Eaglemed to a Tulsa hospital in critical condition, according to OHP. A fourth passenger, 36-year-old Gretchen Beasley was flown by Eaglemed to a Wichita, Kansas, hospital in critical condition.

OHP said Beverly Collyar and Melvin Collyar were not wearing seatbelts. Troopers said the victims in the in the Dodge Caravan were wearing seatbelts, except Verna Stackhouse, the driver.
