OKLAHOMA CITY -- Just last week, Mark Huckeby was lying in the intensive care unit, lucky to be alive. There were also fears that he would be paralyzed for life. But Mark is a fighter, and remarkably, is on the road to recovery.

He's hoping those who know the driver who hit him while he was on his motorcycle will come forward.

"He can't go to sleep every night knowing that he left someone in the street to die," Huckeby said. "I can see how it was an accident. I see how it happened, and I can somewhat forgive that because accidents happen. People are only human, but what he did afterwards is what shocked me."

Huckeby and his family are convinced Huckeby's helmet saved his life.

"He probably wasn't even looking at me when he hit me because I didn't hear any brakes or anything," Huckeby said.

Jesse Arevalos is with the Down Bikers Association. He said hit and run accidents like Huckeby's happen far too often, and that's why they're here to help.

"The cars need to understand they are bigger than us but that doesn't make them a bully, and a lot of people take care of us and watch out for us but a lot of people don't care," Arevalos said.

Despite the accident, Huckeby said he will ride again.

"Just be safe. It's hard to see a motorcycle, you know, and the riders just need to watch their backs. Pretend like everyone is out there to get you. That's all you can do, but you can't quit riding," Huckeby said.

The family is offering a $1,000 reward for any information that would lead to an arrest of the person responsible.

Police are looking for an older 1990s or early 2000 model Jeep Cherokee that is dark silver or dark gray in color and has a broken headlight.
