OKLAHOMA CITY – Visitors to the Oklahoma State Fair could leave with more than stuffed animals and full stomachs.

They could leave with cash.

For the tenth consecutive year, the State Treasurer's Office will operate the "Pot of Gold" booth at the fair. State Treasurer Scott Meacham and his staff will be searching for the 500,000 Oklahomans who have $300 million in unclaimed property.

"We could give Oklahoma's economy a big boost is we were able to reunite half a million state residents with $300 million," Meacham said.

"If you're going to the fair this year, make a point to stop by our booth and let us check to see if we have any of your money. Remember too that our service is always free."

Last year, more than 500 people claimed more than $275,000. Unclaimed property includes bank accounts, security deposits, old paychecks, royalties, rebates, stocks, bonds and the contents of abandoned safe deposit boxes.

The "Pot of Gold" booth will be located in the Cox Pavilion throughout the fair. Find out whether you have unclaimed property.
