OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City is now offering homeowners the chance to save big on their electric and gas bill.
Homeowners in Oklahoma City with a household income of $100,000 or less can apply to get a green home loan. Homeowners will have up to 36 months to pay back the loan up to $10,000.
"Greening your home makes a lot of financial sense," said Oklahoma City's Sustainability Director Autumn Radle. "Homeowners can save money by making moderate improvements and their home is far more comfortable during the summer and winter."
According to the city of Oklahoma City, some of the energy efficient upgrades that can be made with a loan include:
• Installation of energy-efficient windows or exterior doors
• Adding more insulation to the attic and walls
• Replacing inefficient window units with central heat and air
• Installation of a new heat pump
• Replacing a dark-colored roof with a cool roof that reflects the sun
The City's Residential Energy Efficiency Loan Program is administered by the Community Action Agency.
Interested residents can apply for a loan by calling the Community Action Agency at 232-0199.
