TULSA, OKLAHOMA -- Federal investigators were called to the scene of a chemical spill in a Tulsa trailer park Saturday afternoon. A mobile home resident was mixing chemicals used to create pyrotechnics when a spill called a chemical reaction.

Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as well as the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the chemical spill and determined no laws were broken by the homeowner, according to News On 6 reporter Lacie Lowry.

There may have been code violations due to having the potentially hazardous chemicals within city limits.

Tulsa firefighters and police responded to the hazardous chemicals call at the Elba Terrace Mobile Home Park in the 1200 block of North Fulton Avenue.

An assistant fire chief told The News On 6 that the person living in the trailer had various chemicals that can be used to make pyrotechnics. A spill caused a chemical reaction, but the chemicals have been stabilized, he said.

The Tulsa Police Department's bomb squad truck was also dispatched to the location.

Tulsa resident Valerie Wilson said she arrived home at about 1:30 p.m. to find Tulsa fire engines, police units and a Hazmat vehicle set up one street over from her residence.

Wilson said there were white, 5-gallon paint buckets and what appeared to be milk cartons on the yard of a trailer on Marshall Place.

"As a concerned citizen, I just absolutely hate it," Wilson said. "Living in a trailer park, those things go up like a matchbook anyway. We have a lot of young children around here."
