Fallen Oklahoma Soldier Honored at Fort Sill

ELGIN, Oklahoma -- A fallen Oklahoma soldier was honored for his service Thursday.

The body of Staff Sergeant Vinson Adkinson III arrived in Fort Sill just after 11 this morning to a procession lining the highway. The 26-year-old was killed in Afghanistan last month when an improvised explosive device blew up near his unit.

Adkinson grew up in Stephens County but later moved to Kansas. The Oklahoma native will be laid to rest Monday at the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin.
