2 Arrested in Pottawatomie County Kidnapping, Homicide

PRAGUE, Oklahoma -- Pottawatomie County deputies are investigating a homicide and kidnapping just inside their county line.

Pottawatomie County District Attorney Richard Smotherman says two suspects, a man and a woman, are behind bars at in the county jail this morning, suspected of being involved in a kidnapping and homicide that happened near Prague Wednesday night.

Smotherman says the woman who was kidnapped escaped and called authorities for help. When police arrived at North 3550 near Mocassin Trail, they found the man who had been with her earlier that night had been murdered.

Authorities do not know why the couple was out on the country road. They say they are still investigating what happened.

The woman who was kidnapped is doing fine.

Investigators are questioning two suspects this morning. The D.A. says they will likely be charged sometime next week.

No names have been released.
