OKLAHOMA CITY -- The fight is finally over for an Oklahoma veteran who claimed his local reserve center tried to force him to re-enlist or risk losing his benefits.

Twenty-six-year-old Shawn Drewke served his country for the past six years and even went to Afghanistan.

Once he got back from overseas, he wanted to go back to school to finish his degree and depended on the G.I. Bill to help pay for it.

Drewke signed a contract to serve eight years -- four years of active duty and four years of in-active ready reserve -- but the army reserve center in Stillwater claimed he signed paperwork to re-enlist.

Drewke said those claims were not true and that someone forged his signature.

However, on Tuesday Drewke said because of NEWS 9's story last month, the Army released Drewke from the paperwork and reinstated him to the correct status.
