OKLAHOMA CITY -- Tuesday's tri-county crime spree left a number of victims shaken, but thankful to be alive.

It began when investigators said Jason Masieo and Bobby Cardenas car jacked a truck at the Oklahoma Family Medical Center in Konawa. The truck belonged to Ruben Brewer.

"I was just going in to pay a medical bill. When I came out, a man said, 'come here for a second.' When I walked over, two men showed up and showed me their gun. They wanted my billfold and keys," Brewer said.

The robbery attempt angered Brewer who got the gun out of one of the man's hands.

"I grabbed the barrel with my right hand and his hand with this one and took the gun away from him," Brewer added.

That's when Brewer said the men began beating him.

"Boy, he could kick. That's what happened to my face. He kicked my ears loose," Brewer said.

Investigators said another man, Jimmy Cunningham, who tried to help Brewer, was shot in the stomach during the ordeal.

Another spot on the crime spree was at the Trinity Baptist Church in Maud. A couple of ladies were chatting outside the church when a car came speeding into the parking lot.

"He pointed a gun at us three standing right there," Donna Morris said.

Sally Christopher's van is what the duo was after.

"Donna and Dorothy kept hollering, 'give him the keys. Give him the keys,'" Christopher said.

With a gun pointed at her, Christopher went into the church and got her purse. The women said the two men took Christopher's purse, keys, Morris' purse and a Bible before taking off.

"You would not think that in front of a church, someone would stick you up and take your car. Dorthy said angels were with us and I think they probably were," Christopher said.

Both Brewer and Cunningham were treated at a hospital and released to recover at home.
