GUTHRIE, Oklahoma – Fire crews from several different departments worked quickly to contain a 40-acre grassfire in Logan County Monday afternoon.

High winds and dry conditions made it difficult to fight the fire near W. Dreesen Road and Kelley Avenue.

"We knew that today was a high fire danger so we prepared for that, but we called in lots of resources and got a good stop on the fire but now we're working on the inside part and making sure all the hot spots are out," said Oak Cliff Fire Chief Ken Stoops.

The fire didn't threaten any homes or structures.

Cows in a neighboring field were corralled to a safer area and were not injured in the blaze. No other injuries were reported.
