Pedestrian Killed on Oklahoma Highway

Authorities said an Altus man was killed when a pickup truck hit him on Oklahoma 36 near Faxon.

FAXON, Oklahoma -- Authorities said an Altus man was killed when a pickup truck hit him on Oklahoma 36 near Faxon.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said 20-year-old Christopher Oakely was standing in the eastbound lanes of the highway about 11:40 p.m. Friday when he was struck. Troopers said he sustained massive injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the truck, Linda Staats, wasn't injured. Her condition was apparently normal at the time of the crash.

A police statement said the cause of the accident was due to the pedestrian's actions.
