SAN ANTONIO, Texas – FBI agents arrested Friday the man they believe to be the "Bayou Bandit."

Agents arrested Douglas Ford, 46, in San Antonio, Texas. They say Ford is a serial bank robber who targeted banks in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and New Mexico.

He's accused of robbing 11 banks in all.

The FBI is thanking the public, saying Ford's arrest was the direct result of tips generated by digital billboards put up in several states.

The FBI also released last week surveillance photos of the Bayou Bandit taken at a Pauls Valley Wal-Mart, just before a local bank was robbed.

Ford will appear for a hearing Friday before a U.S. Magistrate judge. He'll then be turned over to the U.S. Marshal's Service.
