ANADARKO, Oklahoma -- Edward Whitworth was elected Caddo County assessor Thursday, after a district judge dismissed allegations of voter irregularity filed by incumbent Sandy Crumm.

Whitworth defeated Crumm by 91 votes in the August 24 runoff primary election.

Crumm contested the results, claiming illegal voting and electioneering.

During a hearing at the Caddo County Courthouse, Crumm presented the names of nine voters who she claimed had voted illegally.

District Judge Richard G. Van Dyck ruled that even if Crumm could prove the nine votes were illegal, it was not enough to change the outcome of the election.

The judge also found there was no proof that electioneering took place.

Meanwhile, a recount on Wednesday decided Caddo County's district 3 county commissioner race.

Unofficial results on August 24 showed Brent Kinder defeated Carlos Squires by eight votes in the Democratic runoff.

During the recount, officials recorded one additional vote for Kinder.

Kinder was elected as district 3 county commissioner with 840 votes. Squires received 831 votes.
