OKLAHOMA CITY -- The attorney for Oklahoma City's Jesus House said he is resigning from the board to handle the shelter's legal troubles.
The Jesus House board of directors met Thursday afternoon to discuss its finances, Director Jan Mercer's six-figure salary and the investigation of possible mismanaged funds being conducted by the AG's office. One of the board members resigned during the meeting citing a conflict of interest.
"I have resigned from the board so I can represent the board. I would have a conflict if I served on the board and represented it at the same time," said Mickey Homsey, former Jesus House board member and current attorney for the nonprofit. "There's a lot of things being taken care of, and I think the Jesus house is on the move."
There have also been questions raised about the board members themselves, and who is still an active member. Homsey said all six board members were present for Thursday's meeting.
