TULSA, OK -- A drunken birthday party led to an overnight shooting in the 1100 block of North Gary Place Saturday, according to Tulsa police.
Witnesses told officers that at about 2:30 a.m., an argument broke out between several family members. Police say a woman brandished a knife, which was taken away by other people at the event. The woman then went inside the house, got a gun and pointed it at a relative.
"The gun went off and fired and hit another family member by accident, according to the victim," said Sergeant Justin Farley of the Tulsa Police Department.
The victim was taken to a Tulsa hospital by EMSA with a non life-threatening leg wound.
Farley said it was unclear what started the argument other than that "everybody here at the scene was highly intoxicated."
Police are searching for the woman who fled the scene after the shooting. Farley said witness testimony was conflicting due to the fact that most of the partygoers are related to the victim and suspect.
