OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma County Free Fair offers residents an opportunity to have fun and compete in a variety of events for free.

Event categories include photography, garden produce, woodworking, baking, livestock, flower arrangement and horse events.

The 96th Annual Oklahoma County Free Fair is scheduled at the Oklahoma State Fair Park and will run August 26-28.

"The fair gives residents the chance to compete with others who have the same hobbies and interests as they do and win not only blue ribbons, but cash prizes as well," said Ray Ridlen, Oklahoma County OSU Cooperative Extension Service Educator, and a superintendent for the fair. "We also have a long list of special activities and contests for fair goers."

Anyone interested in exhibiting at the fair must bring items to the Centennial Building at the fair park from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 26. All exhibits entered must have been made, grown, or constructed during the past year unless otherwise noted in the official fair book.

"There's no fee to enter anything in the fair or to take part in any of the special contests or events," LaDonna Dunlop, Director for the Oklahoma County OSU Cooperative Extension Service and also a superintendent for the fair said. "Our fair also provides people with a wonderful opportunity to see how they do in competition with others as they get ready for our state fair."
