OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma City single mother of four says she left a pot of boiling water unattended on the stove that sparked a house fire.

The fire started sparking, and the kitchen quickly went up in flames this morning at the home located in the 5000 block of Brookdale Drive. She made it out safely with her four sons, ranging in age from 8 months old to 12 years old.

"She left the room, left it unattended, came back in a little bit later and saw some sparking going on so she immediately got her kids out of the house," said Oklahoma City Fire Department Battalion Chief Chris Goodwin. "She had four kids in the house with her."

The family lost most all of its belongings, including recently purchased clothes and supplies for the new school year.
